What to Expect: Your First Visit

We know a first orthodontic visit can come with questions and maybe a few nerves. Our goal is to make your first appointment comfortable, informative, and pressure-free, so you leave feeling confident about your care.

The Consultation Process

Schedule Your First Appointment

To get started, you will need to book a consultation with our team so that we can assess your orthodontic condition and discuss your goals with you. From there, we will develop a treatment plan.

Fill Out the New Patient Form

Once you've got your consultation booked, you will need to fill out our Dental & Medical Health History Form. We invite you to fill out the form online in advance of your first appointment.

The Consultation Process

The initial consultation process usually takes about an hour to complete, and will be led by one of our treatment coordinators. We look forward to meeting you!

Arrive & Get Settled

We recommend arriving about 10 minutes early to complete any required paperwork and get settled in. Upon arrival, you will be greeted by a member of our front reception team.

While you wait, you can relax in our reception room and enjoy some refreshments. We have games for kids to help ensure that everyone is occupied!

We will then show you to a private consultation room where you can wait for your appointment to begin.

Assessment & Diagnostic Imaging

We will start the consultation by introducing ourselves and talking to you about your concerns and treatment goals. We will also take some 'Before Treatment' photos of your smile for future reference.

Next, we will conduct a thorough exam. This will include some imaging to get a comprehensive picture of your dental health. We will create a 3D digital image of your teeth using our iTero scanner, which we can use down the road to create whatever orthodontic appliance you may need.

We can also use the iTero scanner to perform a digital outcome simulation to show you what your results may look like at the end of treatment!

We may also perform a 3D CBCT Scan. This 3D X-ray will give your orthodontist all of the behind-the-scenes information they need to create an effective treatment plan for you.

Your Personalized Treatment Plan

At this point in the process, you will meet with our treatment coordinator to discuss your health history (if needed) and review the imaging, outlining any issues that may have come to light.

Based on the exam and the results of the imaging, your orthodontist will diagnose your condition and develop a customized treatment plan to address your specific orthodontic issues. Our treatment coordinator and orthodontist will review this plan and go over the finer points with you.

Your personalized treatment plan will include treatment recommendations, a projected timeline for treatment completion, and an appointment schedule.

We will also discuss a payment game plan for your treatment. This will include any insurance coverage and your payment plan, should you choose to take advantage of that option.

Next Steps

To close off the appointment, we will talk to you about the immediate next steps to get your treatment plan rolling and schedule your next appointment(s).

We will also answer any questions you have and provide you with advice, guidance, and support – both during your consultation and throughout your entire orthodontic journey.

We love talking about teeth and will take any opportunity to do so! But more importantly, we believe that patients who are fully informed about their treatment have the best success, and that is our goal for you!
