A Day in the Life with Invisalign

A Day in the Life with Invisalign | Calgary Invisalign

If you have crooked teeth or your bite is misaligned, you may find it difficult to speak and chew properly. This can make you feel self-conscious and even affect your self-esteem. In addition to these challenges, you may have trouble keeping your teeth clean, which can lead to cavities, tooth decay, and gum disease. Invisalign offers a solution with clear braces that work to straighten and align your teeth.

Surrideo Orthodontics provides Invisalign in Calgary, giving you an almost invisible alternative to metal braces that nobody knows you’re wearing. They work to correct crossbites, overbites, and underbites, as well as teeth that are crowded or widely spaced. After completing the Invisalign system, you’ll have a smile that you’ll be happy to share.

How Invisalign Works

Invisalign is a series of aligners that you wear over your teeth. They are custom-made to fit your teeth with the help of 3D computer technology. Each set in the series, which is usually worn for one to two weeks, moves your teeth another step closer to proper alignment. Simply place each set of upper and lower bites into position, removing them only while eating and cleaning your teeth.

Eating, Drinking, and Cleaning

Aligners should be worn overnight while you sleep. In the morning, remove them to eat breakfast, then give both, aligners and your teeth, a thorough cleaning. You’ll also need to remove the aligners for lunch and dinner, brushing your teeth before replacing them.

It can be inconvenient to brush your teeth when you’re eating away from home, but it’s essential to remove all traces of food and drink before replacing the aligners. Otherwise, food and beverage particles may become trapped, which can lead to tooth decay and gum disease.

For this same reason, it’s a good idea to avoid drinks high in sugar. If you can’t resist an afternoon soda or juice, treat it like a meal by removing the aligners while drinking and brushing your teeth before replacing them. Chewing gum while wearing your aligners should be avoided.

When your day is over, it’s time to clean your aligners again. Be sure to brush and floss your teeth thoroughly, then replace the aligners before going to bed for the night.
